Randy Travis Releases New Song “Where That Came From”

Randy Travis surprised fans as he celebrated his 65th birthday with the release of a brand-new song titled “Where That Came From.” Travis unveiled this track on Friday, marking his return to the music scene after over a decade. The Grammy Award-winning artist, known for his unforgettable vocals, has been limited in speech since surviving a debilitating stroke in 2013.

He was given just a 2% chance of survival, according to multiple reports.

Randy Travis and artificial intelligence

The release of “Where That Came From” showcases the intersection of music and technology, particularly the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in restoring Travis’s voice.

In early 2023, discussions about AI’s impact on the music industry prompted Warner Music Group executives to explore its potential for good. Cris Lacy, Co-Chair & Co-President of Warner Music Nashville, envisioned using AI to give Travis his voice back, sparking a collaboration that led to the creation of this new song.

Gratitude and support

Travis expressed gratitude for the opportunity to participate in music production once again, emphasizing the support of his team, fellow artists, and fans. His involvement underscores the significance of this release, which marks a pivotal moment in leveraging technology to empower artists.

Lacy highlighted the personal motivation behind the project, emphasizing Travis’s courage and resilience in contributing to the music community. While AI played a role in the production process, it was the dedication and passion of individuals, including Travis himself, that breathed life into “Where That Came From.”
