Chris Young expresses gratitude to fans for their support following his father’s heart attack

Chris Young had a pretty wild weekend when his stepfather, Michael Harris, had a heart attack on June 29th. Despite the tough news, Young didn’t let it stop him from doing his show in Colorado. He really embodied that whole “the show must go on” thing.

So, on Monday, Young took to Instagram to give his fans an update and share his relief that his stepdad, who he lovingly calls dad, is doing okay. He posted a bunch of concert photos, including one that really hit home – him standing in the middle of a sea of fans’ cellphone lights, showing their support during this challenging time.

Young, who’s 39 years old by the way, started his post with a big shoutout to the folks in Colorado. He said, “Colorado! I can’t thank you enough. On a day when my dad had a heart attack, you lifted me up. I love country music fans. I’m so glad I went ahead with the show. And I’m even more glad that my dad is okay. Lots of love to all of you.”

Is Michael Harris Chris Young’s real dad?

Now, here’s the thing – Young and Harris aren’t related by blood, but their bond is as strong as ever. Young recalls the time when Harris asked for permission to marry his mom, and from that moment on, Young has always considered him a true father figure. He said, “Since he came into our lives, he’s treated me like his own son.” And let me tell you, Harris has had a major impact on Young’s life and career.

Harris has had his fair share of health issues, including lung cancer and a previous heart attack. But you know what’s really inspiring? He never lets any of that bring him down. According to Young, Harris has taught him to appreciate every single day and find happiness in what they have.

In Young’s latest album, “Young Love & Saturday Nights,” he pays tribute to Harris with a song called “Getting Older.” When Young first heard it, it really struck a chord with him because it captures the essence of their relationship and the lasting influence Harris has had on him.

Looking ahead, despite everything that’s happened, Chris Young is still set to headline Nashville’s Let Freedom Sing! Event on July 4th. This guy’s commitment to his fans and his music is unwavering, even in the face of personal challenges.
