Cher Firmly Stands Against Trump: Threatens to Leave U.S. If Reelected

Cher, the ever-bold pop icon, never shies away from speaking her mind, especially when it comes to Donald Trump. Throughout Trump’s one-term presidency, Cher was an outspoken critic, dubbing him “President Troll.” With Trump eyeing a comeback into the political realm, Cher is making her stance loud and clear.

In a recent candid chat with England’s Guardian, the 77-year-old singer shared her distress at the thought of Trump making a White House return. Reflecting on the angst she felt during Trump’s prior term, Cher revealed, “I almost got an ulcer the last time.” Cher, known for her staunch support for LGBTQ rights, pointed to the tumultuous events of Trump’s presidency, including the unsettling assault on the U.S. Capitol by Trump’s followers on January 6, 2021.

Considering Trump’s current leading position among the Republican contenders for the next presidential election, Cher is already planning ahead. She firmly stated, “If he gets in, who knows? This time I will leave [the country].” This isn’t the first time Cher has made such a vow; during the 2016 election, she had threatened to “leave the planet” if Trump were elected, showcasing her steadfast convictions.

Cher also highlighted her concern about the growing number of anti-trans legislation. Expressing her dismay, she shed light on the various bills aiming to restrict the rights of transgender individuals and the LGBTQ community. Cher, a devoted mother to a transgender child, Chaz, emphasized the importance of unity in facing these challenges. “We’ve got to stand together,” she urged, rallying for support and understanding for the transgender community.
